Bage Jidda spent three years as a hostage of Boko Haram. Inspite of all her suffering, today she is the sole provider for her family, in Mora, the Far North Region of Cameroon. She embodies resilience, her optimism is infectious. Empowering women like Jidda is at the heart of building resilience among communities torn apart by the Boko Haram crisis.

I am concerned over the challenges being faced by humanitarian actors in the delivery of assistance. In this context, I welcome the humanitarian dialogue held on July, 4th with the Prime Minister, representatives of the Government of Cameroon, Diplomatic Heads of Missions and humanitarian actors in relation to the humanitarian situation in the North West and South West regions and the engagement demonstrated in ensuring that humanitarian assistance is supported and reaches the people in need.
